TK Ivins

Statement

They catch my eye.

Peeling paint.

Weathered edges.

Demolition sites.

Wrinkles.

Deterioration.

They are intriguing evidence.

My photographs are a process of re-using my own pictures. In the manipulation of the initial image and the re-photographing of it for the final image the photograph itself has become more of the subject than what is in the picture. The work is about age. It stems from finding old photographs of family members that I have never met, deteriorating buildings, and pealing paint. I am intrigued by the stories that these things tell and seek to capture a bit of this effect within my own work.
